PROSOYA – Areas of practical training

In the afternoons, the pupils receive practical training in the project-own workshops.

1. Carpenter’s Workshop
First, pupils learn how to handle the tools, and make simple things made of wood. Later, they are made familiar with wood working machines.

2. Metal Workshop
Here, the pupils learn the basic concepts of automotive engineering and electrical fitting. Manual and machine techniques of metal finishing are taught through working examples.

3. Apiculture (Beekeeping)
The mild climate lends itself to beekeeping, and pupils learn how to handle bees, and are acquainted with honey production methods.

4. Agriculture
In the agricultural areas and in the bio-garden, pupils gain practical and theoretical skills in dealing with nature in an ecological manner.

5. Livestock Farming
The keeping of chickens, geese, ducks, guinea pigs, and a cattle herd is an important experience in the handling of these animals.
The winning of dairy products, such as cheese and yoghurt, is also included in the training program.

6. Kitchen and Bakery
The youngsters also receive tuition in the bakery and the kitchen, and on Sundays and holidays they prepare meals for everybody.

7. Textile Design
In the first years, all pupils need to learn how to handle needle and thread. In textile design, they show their creativity in textile appliqué works, which are sent to our donators in the form of art postcards.

8. Electricity Supply with Water Power
Electricity is supplied by two PROSOYA owned water turbines.
